More of What I do
I often meet people who don't know much about the role of a Professional School Counselor. By design, we operate with a "quiet efficiency". I do what needs to be done in my school; responsively, preventatively, and in a crisis. I regularly conduct active, creative, stimulating classroom lessons and small groups, meet with individual students, and follow up with parents, teachers, and administrators. I think many school counselors can attest: Sometimes quiet efficiency isn't enough. I encourage anyone checking this page out to advocate for the profession by speaking up to your local school board or superintendent. Much of a school counselor's work goes under appreciated and unnoticed due to the confidential nature of our work. It is truly a wonderful (albeit, endangered) profession.
